G•III

The Fairchild G-III is sourced from distinctive Napa Valley vineyards located in the Rutherford and Pritchard Hill appellations. Within these great vineyards, we have deliberately sought out specific vineyard blocks producing some of the highest quality fruit in the Napa Valley. The resulting wine is beautifully complex, well structured with powerful tannins, bright acidity and a lingering finish.

2017 G•III

95 PTS ~ Jeb Dunnuck

Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from an older block in this larger vineyard, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Fairchild G-III offers a distinct iodine character as well as notes of sappy herbs, damp earth, tobacco, and beautiful black fruits. Rich, full-bodied, concentrated, and textured, it’s a classic, ageworthy, almost old school-styled wine from this team. Aged 22 months in new French oak, give bottles 3-4 years and it should evolve for two decades or more.

2016 G•III

98 PTS ~ Jeb Dunnuck

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Fairchild G-III is heavenly juice. Seeing an extended maceration and 20 months in 80% new French oak, it boasts awesome notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, crushed rocks, and violets. This all flows to a blockbuster styled beauty that has fabulous purity, fine, silky tannins, and incredible opulence paired with purity and elegance. This beauty got more than a few “wow” comments in the notes and should keep for two decades or more.
Drink 2019-2039.

97+ PTS ~ Robert Parker WA

The Fairchild 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon G-III is deep garnet-purple in color, with a beautiful nose of crushed blackberries, red currants, black cherry compote and cassis with nuances of lilacs, fragrant earth, forest floor and black tea plus touches of menthol and coffee grounds. Full-bodied, rich, bold and super concentrated in the mouth, the palate features firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness to give a solid structure to all that fruit, finishing very long and very layered.

2015 G•III

95 PTS ~ Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon G-III offers up a beautifully expressive nose of baking spices, dusty soil, garrigue and dried Mediterranean herbs over a core of warm black currants, black cherry pie and blackberry tart. Gorgeous, earthy character with firm, chewy tannins and well-balanced freshness, finishing long with a pleasant meatiness coming through. Drink 2017-2037.

2014 G•III

96 PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon G – III comes from a vineyard that was often the backbone of the great Beaulieu Private Reserves of the 1950s and 1960s. This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from clones 337 and 7, and offers fabulous intensity. Inky purple, with notes of blackberry, blueberry, violets, charcoal and forest floor, it is deep and full-bodied, but has the vintage’s endearing sweetness, tannin and suppleness. Drink 2016-2036.

2013 G•III

97 PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon G-III is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from this Beckstoffer-owned vineyard. This was aged in 80% new French oak prior to bottling. Philippe Melka told me that the vines were 17 years old in 2013, and the wine reminded me somewhat of the Schrader Cabernet Sauvignons made by Thomas Rivers Brown. It is a great expression of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon – inky purple with notes of pen ink, graphite, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, a touch of toast and subtle charcoal. It is full-bodied, rich, multilayered and another terrific world-class quality 2013 to drink over the next three decades. Drink 2015-2045.

2012 G•III

94-96 PTS ~ ROBERT PARKER JR

Even better than the 2012 version is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon G-III. Ratcheting up the level of intensity, it has stunning purity as well as lots of blueberry and black raspberry fruit mixed with white flowers, unsmoked cigar tobacco and Christmas fruitcake. It is a luscious, intense and full-bodied wine that should evolve for 15-20 more years.
